If you had told me two years ago that I would be keeping a blog, I might have believed you. If you had told me that it would be about running, I would have laughed… a lot! In September of 2005, I weighed 222 lbs. This weight was down from my all-time high of 255 lbs. I was fat, and it was a problem. Through the intervention of my grandmother, I had the opportunity to lose the weight, and I took it. So, here I am now, almost two years later, and I weigh 125 lbs.
I’ve been maintaining my weight well for a few months, but I started to look for ways to increase my athleticism. I felt that setting physical goals for myself would be a good way to keep motivated to continue exercising. I have never been much for physical activity, specifically running, over my lifetime. I was a pathetic runner in high school and junior high, when we were forced to run to pass P.E. So, when a friend of mine mentioned that she was going to train for a 5k, I jumped at the opportunity to make it a goal to run that 5k with her. It was the Iron Girl 5k, and I successfully completed it on April 1st. My time was awful, and I placed 264 out of 388 ladies in my event. This has not daunted me, however, and I have made it my goal to train for a marathon by the end of the year. So, there you have it. I started this blog to help keep myself motivated and to share my experiences as a barely-able-to-run person who is training for her first marathon. I hope you find this blog useful. Thank you for stopping by!
